Globalization and consolidation in the print industry have made ‘large format’ a market with a bright future.Printers who ‘think big’ by adopting large format are starting to corner increasingly lucrative markets. These companies are benefitting from the high productivity and low unit costs of the ROLAND 900 XXL which is revolutionizing sheetfed offset and fast becoming the trend in the printing industry.

With broad applications in commercial, publication, packaging and special printing (posters, displays, point of sale), the ROLAND 900XXL combines higher productivity and lower unit costs with premium print quality and greater flexibility.

The flagship of the series – ROLAND 900 XXL Perfector - has the world’s largest paper format (1,310 x 1,870mm) and the world’s largest printing format in this market segment (1,290 x 1,850 mm). It can increase productivity by up to 100% compared with the 7B (1,200 x 1,620 mm) format and also cut unit costs to the absolute minimum.

Hannes Eisele, chairman of the Supervisory Board at Himmer AG in Augsburg, Germany was fulsome in his praise of the ROLAND 900 XXL Perfector: "We already call format 8 the Golden Format because it gives us advantages for almost all our jobs."

The ROLAND 900 XXL’s shorter make-ready times and reduced unit costs have enabled Ma-tisk printing company in Slovenia to penetrate the book and commercial printing markets all over Europe. Their four-color ROLAND 900 XXL in 7B plus format (1,260 x 1,620 mm) compared to the 7B format (1,200 x 1,620 mm) saw productivity improvements of up to 20%.

The ROLAND 900 XXL’s highly precise register ensures consistent and excellent print quality and its flexibility in the substrates sets it above all other presses of its kind in the market. From the thinnest paper or the thickest carton, the relatively flat sheet travel path means that all the substrates can be printed on safely and in high quality, This in turn enables print companies to expand their product range and enhance their competitiveness.

In the United States, Lewisburg Printing (which provides local, national and international clientele with corrugated packaging, point of purchase, retail, manufacturing, food processing, and educational products) has now purchased its second ROLAND 900 XXL. Foxfire Printing and Packaging also invested in a ROLAND 900 XXL last year.
